CPNE-CPJ discuss security issues of journalists

Karachi: Council of Pakistan Newspapers Editors (CPNE) had Tuesday organised a meeting with a delegation of Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), a United States-based organisation voicing over atrocities done to the working journalists around the world. The CPJ delegation had comprised CPJ Coordinator Proghramme for Asia Bob Dietz and CPJ Senior Consultant Elisabeth Winchell.

The CPNE was represented by Jabbar Khattak and Wamiq Zuberi and Editors and journalists from different newspapers and periodicals attended. The meeting focused on grievances of working journalists in Pakistan and had held a detailed debate on variety of challenges that the working journalists were facing in today’s time.

Through a long interaction with the working journalists and editors, the CPJ delegation collected information on problems, threats, killings and security-related issues.
