ISLAMABAD: The\nSupreme Court of Pakistan on Saturday fixed the hearing of the US journalist\nDaniel Pearl murder case for June 29.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A three-member bench\nof the top court will hear the Sindh government and Daniel Pearl parents plea\nseeking suspension of the Sindh High Court’s (SHC) judgment regarding\nacquitting\/ releasing the accused in Daniel Pearl’s murder case on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week, the Sindh\ngovernment had approached the Supreme Court of Pakistan for early hearing of\nits petition to suspend the Sindh High Court (SHC) verdict in the US journalist\nDaniel Pearl’s murder case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an application\nmoved in the apex court, the provincial government requested the Supreme Court\nto fix its appeal against the Sindh High Court (SHC) verdict in the US\njournalist Daniel Pearl’s murder case next week for hearing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The provincial\ngovernment stated that all documents related to the case had been completed and\nsubmitted to the court as per the orders issued by the apex court in the murder\ncase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier on June 1,\nthe Supreme Court turned down a request to suspend the operation of the Sindh\nHigh Court (SHC) verdict in the US journalist Daniel Pearl murder case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A three-judge bench\nof the apex court was hearing appeals filed by the Sindh government and the parents\nof the killed journalist Daniel Pearl challenging the SHC’s April 2 verdict\nthat overturned the sentences of four convicts in the murder case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Justice Manzor\nMalik, a member of the bench, remarked that the US journalist’s kidnapping\nneeds to be proven first with the help of evidence that must show the person\nkidnapped was Daniel Pearl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is pertinent to\nmention here that the Sindh High Court (SHC) in its verdict on April 2 had\noverturned the sentences of four convicts in the case of the slain US journalist\nDaniel Pearl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
