ISLAMABAD\u2014As\nIslamabad Police continued to dilly dally on registering an FIR for missing\njournalist Anis-ur-Rehman, his close friend spoke to JournalismPakistan.com <\/strong>on\nWednesday and narrated the sequence of events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sajid Shah said that\nhe, along with Rehman, an editor of the magazine Nada-e-Millat, left Lahore for\nIslamabad on the morning of June 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Saudi Embassy\nhad asked the journalist to collect his payment for the translations he used to\ndo for them while being based in Lahore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On arriving in\nIslamabad, Rehman drove alone to the embassy using his friend\u2019s car and entered\nthe Diplomatic Enclave through Shams Gate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n However, he went\nmissing later that evening, and there\u2019s been no trace of the car he had driven\nto the embassy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Shah said that he\ncalled Rehman at 5:00 pm on June 10 and was told he was busy with friends and\nwould contact him later when free. His wife got a similar response when she\ncalled him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Shah said that he, along\nwith his sister-in-law, left for the Diplomatic Enclave at 11:30 pm the same\nday Rehman went missing. However, the police stopped them near Serena Hotel and\ndid not allow them to proceed further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rehman called his\nwife in Lahore on June 11 from his cell phone and told her not to contact the\npolice or tell the media; otherwise, he might get into trouble. He told her he\nwould return home on June 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Also, on June 11,\nShah went to the Secretariat Police Station, Islamabad, and complained about\nhis missing journalist friend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He said that when he\nwent to the Secretariat Police to have an FIR registered, he was asked to go to\nRamna Police Station, who told him to contact Kohsar Police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rehman\u2019s father had\nlaunched an Urdu, English and Arabic language magazine named Arab Gazette in\n1973. In 2006, he started leading the magazine after his father died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Saudi Embassy\nreportedly subscribed to his magazine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
