LAHORE: An\naccountability court on Monday extended Jang\/Geo <\/em>Media Group’s\nEditor-in-Chief Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman’s judicial remand till June 29. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Judge Jawad ul Hasan\nconducted proceedings of the reference against MSR. NAB prosecutor Asim Mumtaz\nand MSR’s attorney were present during the hearing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We have come\nto know that Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman is ill?” inquired the court. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Yes, he is\nundergoing treatment,” replied MSR’s attorney. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Postponing his\njudicial remand till June 29, the court sought a report of MSR’s reference from\nNAB. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ninety-four days have\npassed since the Jang\/Geo<\/em> Media Group’s Editor-in-Chief has\nbeen arrested but a case has yet to be registered against him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

MSR was arrested on\nMarch 12 in a fake, concocted case pertaining to the purchase of a property 34\nyears ago. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since then, his arrest\nhas been condemned by journalists and international media freedom bodies around\nthe world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
