LAHORE: Hearing on\nthe bail petition of Jang group\u2019s editor-in-chief Mir Shakilur Rehman in a\n34-year-old land allotment case could not be held on Thursday due to\nunavailability of a division bench of the Lahore High Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the last hearing,\na bench comprising Justice Sardar Ahmad Naeem and Justice Farooq Haider had\nheard the bail petition and sought a reply from the National Accountability\nBureau by May 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, the bench\ndissolved due to transfer of Justice Naeem to the Rawalpindi seat of the high\ncourt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per the new\nroster of sitting judges, a division bench comprising Justice Muhammad Tariq\nAbbasi and Justice Farooq Haider, formed to hear NAB-related cases, will start\nfunctioning at the principal seat from June 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NAB had arrested\nMr Rehman on March 12 when he made his second appearance before its\ninvestigation team. He was sent to jail on judicial remand on April 28 by an\naccountability court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bureau alleged\nthat Rehman illegally obtained exemption of 54 plots, each measuring one-kanal,\nsituated in Block-H, Johar Town. It said the allotment of the land had been in\nconnivance with then Punjab chief minister Nawaz Sharif against the exemption\npolicy and the laws for monitory gains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
