KARACHI: Two major\narrests have been made in connection with the murder of journalist Aziz Memon,\nwhile police are searching one more key suspect who is still at large, revealed\na source close to the investigation of the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The body of Aziz\nMemon (associated with Sindh TV Chanel KTN and daily Kawish) was found from a\nriver on February 16, this year with a mic cable wrapped around his neck. The\npolice had constituted a JIT, headed by Karachi Police chief Additional\nInspector General Ghulam Nabi Memon. The JIT then formed a special\ninvestigation team to thoroughly probe the matter. It comprised SSP Dr. Farooq\nof Nausheroferoze, SSP Tanvir Tunio of Shaheed Benzirabad, DSPs Aijaz Memon,\nHafeez Abbasi, Inspectors Yar Muhammad Rind and Akbar Channa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to sources\nfollowing the arrest, the suspects would be put under intensive DNA tests and\nits conclusive report is now being awaited to finalize the case. The sources\nfurther added that both the prime suspects have made startling disclosures.\nHowever, their arrest would only be publicised once their DNA links them to the\nmurder conclusively. The sources concluded that many DNA tests were conducted\nand soon the police would announce the major breakthrough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chief Minister\nSindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, on Thursday also informed the media about a breakthrough\nin Aziz Memon\u2019s case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other hand,\nthe brother of murdered journalist and complainant in the case, Hazeez Rehman\nMemon, has levelled serious allegations against the district police for their\nalleged incompetence and negligence in his letter written to head of the JIT AIG\nGhulam Nabi Memon. He had complained that the suspected persons were released\non payment of bribe after cursory interrogation and especially cited the name\nof a senior police officer and an inspector of the district police. This\nreporter tried to contact SSP Nausheroferoze Dr. Farooq and other investigating\nofficers but till the filing of this story, they did not respond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
