RAWALPINDI: An\nunidentified person threw live bullets on the peaceful protesters at the\nprotest camp outside the offices of the Jang and The News at Murree Road here\non Monday against the illegal arrest of Jang\/Geo Group Editor-in-Chief Mir\nShakil-ur-Rahman and flee the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The unknown person\nalso abused and harassed the peaceful protesters before throwing the live\nbullets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The unknown person\nwho was in double cabin white vehicle came from the Liaquat Bagh Chowk and when\nhe reached near the protest camp, he started chanting slogans with abusing the\nprotesters and after throwing the live bullets he flew towards Marrir Chowk.\nThe peaceful protesters started raising slogans over the harassment. Later on,\npolice came and was informed about the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chairman Joint Committee\nof the Workers of the Geo and Jang Group and President Jang Workers Union Nasir\nChisti lodged an application over the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the\nincident, the workers of the Geo and Jang Group along with the civil society\nand political workers continued their protest that entered 67th day against the\nillegal arrest of Jang\/Geo Group Editor-in-Chief Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman.\nAddressing the protesters, Secretary General Pakistan Federal Union of\nJournalists Nasir Zaidi said who are the people talking through bullets as the\njournalists believe in peaceful struggle for the cause of the freedom of media.\nHe said those who could throw the live bullets could also fire these but they\nforget the journalists will never be afraid of such acts, as they believe in\npeaceful struggle. \u201cOur message is for those who threw the live bullets that\nthe peaceful struggle for the cause of the freedom of media and for the release\nof Jang\/Geo Editor-in-Chief Mir Shakil-ur-Rehman will continue,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chairman Editorial\nCommittee of Jang Rawalpindi Hanif Khalid said the workers of Geo and Jang\ngroup will not be afraid of the bullets as they believe in peaceful struggle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He appealed to Chief\nJustice Supreme Court to take the notice of illegal arrest of Jang\/Geo Group\nEditor-in-Chief Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman and provide justice. Magazine Editor Jang\nRawalpindi Farooq Aqdas said the journalists and workers of the Geo and Jang\nGroup will not be demoralised through such acts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Secretary General\nRIUJ and senior correspondent Geo News Asif Ali Bhatti said the live bullets\nwere being thrown on the peaceful protesters who only believe in the peaceful\nstruggle. \u201cWe will not be afraid of such acts and will continue the cause which\nwas started by Jang\/Geo Group Editor-in-Chief Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said Mir\nShakil-ur-Rahman stood on his principles firmly and refused to bow before the\nillegal demands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Media worker of Jang\nGroup Munir Shah said the act of throwing live bullets on the peaceful\nprotesters proved that the restrictions were being imposed on the freedom of\nexpression. He said the peaceful struggle for the release of Mir\nShakil-ur-Rahman will continue. Media worker of the Jang Group Amjad Abbasi\ncondemned the incident of throwing live bullets on peaceful protesters. PML-N\nworker Imtiaz Taji said such kind of incidents be condemned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
