Six reporters representing\u00a0different TV channels and newspapers\u00a0were assaulted\u00a0and\u00a0then forcibly removed\u00a0from Civil Hospital,\u00a0Thul\u00a0by doctors and other staff on September 13. \u00a0Thul\u00a0is located in\u00a0Jacobabad District in\u00a0Sindh Province of Pakistan.<\/p>\n

The reporters\u00a0had reached the hospital to cover the visit of\u00a0Justice\u00a0(retd)\u00a0Ameer Hani,\u00a0Chairman of the\u00a0Water Commission. \u00a0While waiting for him\u00a0to arrive\u00a0the reporters\u00a0were approached by\u00a0patients admitted in the hospital and their family members. They\u00a0started telling the journalists about conditions in the hospital\u00a0such as shortage of staff and medicines.<\/p>\n

After taking\u00a0the\u00a0views of\u00a0the\u00a0patients,\u00a0the\u00a0journalists than went to the office of Dr. Asif\u00a0Laghari, Medical Superintendent\u00a0and started asking him questions about conditions at the\u00a0hospital.\u00a0According to the journalists,\u00a0Mr\u00a0Laghari\u00a0expessed\u00a0displeasure at the\u00a0questioning and\u00a0refused to\u00a0give answers. Other doctors who were also present in the office\u00a0started\u00a0beating the journalists and forced them to leave the hospital. \u00a0\u00a0The journalists received injuries as a result and had to be taken to hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n

One of the doctors also lodged a complaint against the journalists\u00a0and they have been booked under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATC). No arrests have been made as of yet.<\/p>\n

Lala Asad Pathan, Assistant Secretary General Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ),\u00a0told\u00a0Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF) that PFUJ will\u00a0protest outside the office of SSP Jacobabad\u00a0against\u00a0the\u00a0attack on journalists and\u00a0the\u00a0case registered against them.<\/p>\n

Those assaulted included\u00a0Zafar\u00a0Khoso\u00a0of\u00a07 News, Abbas Gul\u00a0Mastoi\u00a0of\u00a0Hum TV\/Roz News,\u00a0Muhammad\u00a0Moosa\u00a0Baloch of\u00a0ARY News, Mukhtiar\u00a0Dhul\u00a0of\u00a0Mehran TV, Muhammad\u00a0Moosa\u00a0Sarki\u00a0of\u00a0Sindh TV\u00a0and\u00a0Abdul Razzaq\u00a0Burhro\u00a0of\u00a0Daily Mehran newspaper.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
