Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF) remembers the life of\u00a0Javed Khan<\/span>, a camera for the Islamabad-based daily\u00a0Markaz\u00a0<\/i>and the UK-based\u00a0DM Digital TV<\/i>\u00a0television station, who was killed on July 3, 2007 while covering clashes between law enforcement agencies and he student of the Lal Masjid, a mosque in Pakistan\u2019s capital Islamabad<\/p>\n

The administration and students of Lal Masjid had been engaged in confrontations with the government since January 2007.<\/p>\n

Several others were injured in the clashes.<\/p>\n

Khan lost his life after he was hit in the chest and neck by stray bullets thought to have been fired by paramilitary rangers. He was rushed to a hospital but passed away during a surgery.<\/p>\n

Speaking to PPF, Khan\u2019s brother Nawab Gul said that Khan had been the soul breadwinner for the family and his family had fallen into trouble following his death as they had no source of income. Gul said that initially the government had paid Rs.500,000 in compensation and provided his family with plot. However, after that no one was taking care of the family nor had Khan\u2019s employers announced compensation.<\/p>\n
