KARACHI: In a strong\nstatement issued on Saturday, the Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) has\ncondemned the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) for what\nit called attempting to destroy the radio broadcasting industry in the country\nwith its `highhanded tactics\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPemra in a move to\nfill its coffers with irrational levies has started collecting from private\nradio broadcasters licence renewal fees, which is several multiple times more\nof what they used to pay originally. This is also being done at a time when the\nradio industry, specifically, and the media industry on the whole is going\nthrough the worst economic crisis in its history,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
