LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Secretary\nInformation Marriyum Aurangzab has expressed grave concern at high incidence of\ncoronavirus in media houses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement issued on Monday, she demanded the government\ntake immediate and concrete measures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all\njournalists. She said that provision of protective gear [personal protective\nequipment] to journalists must be a top priority of the government. She\nexpressed disappointment over the government inability to announce\ninterest-free loans for the media industry so that the workers\u2019 salaries could\nbe paid on time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The government has also not provided any relief package for\njournalists, she added. The former information minister also extended her\ncondolences over the death of former APP employee Rashid Bhatti from\ncoronavirus. She said it should set alarm bells ringing in all government\nranks. She urged Imran Khan to focus his mind and energies on the raging\npandemic in the country instead of pursuing his petty, vengeful political\nagenda. She said instead of ranting all day and night against Shahbaz Sharif,\nhe must get worried over the fact that doctors and journalists were dying\nacross the country because the government had failed to protect them with\nappropriate gear. Marriyum said it was not time for politics but to do anything\nand everything to save lives and livelihoods of people of Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
