{"id":5960,"date":"2017-06-07T11:30:18","date_gmt":"2017-06-07T06:30:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pakistanpressfoundation.org\/?p=87829"},"modified":"2017-06-09T12:15:17","modified_gmt":"2017-06-09T07:15:17","slug":"ppf-concerned-about-the-suspension-of-daily-al-wasat-in-bahrain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/pakistanfoemonitor.org\/ppf-concerned-about-the-suspension-of-daily-al-wasat-in-bahrain\/","title":{"rendered":"PPF concerned about the suspension of daily \u201cAl-Wasat\u201d in Bahrain"},"content":{"rendered":"Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF) in a letter to the Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain expressed concern over the suspension of \u201cAl Wasat\u201d in Bahrain on June 4 publish an article allegedly insulted \u201csisterly Arab state\u201d.\r\n\r\nPPF Secretary General Owais Aslam Ali, in his letter, urged the government of Bahrain to reverse the decision of Al-Wasat newspaper suspension and allow the newspaper to continue its publication.\r\n\r\nAccording to Arabic Network for Human Rights Information (ANHRI), decision of the Minister of Information Affairs\u2019 suspends \u201cAl-Wasat\u201d newspaper without any court order constitutes a blatant violation of freedom of opinion and information sharing.\r\n\r\nDecision to suspend the circulation of Al-Wasat newspaper until further notice, alleging that the newspaper had violated the laws and spreading the divisions in society and affects the Kingdom of Bahrain and relations with other countries.\r\n\r\nEarlier November 2016, Bahraini authorities suspended the electronic version of Al- Was at under the same allegations.
