Karachi: The Karachi Union of Journalists (D) held a protest at the press club against the killing of Mushtaq Khand, a journalist killed in firing on a rally in Khairpur on Sunday. The journalists were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans in favour of the freedom of press and against the government\u2019s apathy over the law and order situation.<\/p>\n

Addressing the demonstration, the KUJ-D President Afzal Mohsin said that although Mushtaq Khand was not the actual target of gunmen, this incident should not be seen in isolation. \u201cAttacks on journalists, particularly in Sindh and Balochistan, have become the order of the day. Some 30 journalists have died in the two provinces over the last few years,\u201d Mohsin said.<\/p>\n
