]]> KARACHI: The Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) has strongly condemned the attacks on reporters, cameramen and other media workers in Islamabad while they were performing their duty of keeping the people informed.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the PBA strongly condemned the brutality with which police targeted and attacked media workers.

The statement demanded that the attack on media should be stopped forthwith and strong action must be taken against those responsible. It also urged that media should be allowed to perform its lawful duty and responsibilities freely without any hindrance. The PBA would aggressively defend the constitutional rights of Freedom of Expression at all legal forums, the statement added.

]]> HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Union of Journalists (Dastoori) held a protest demonstration in front of the press club here on Sunday against Islamabad police torture against journalists(reporters and cameramen) of ARY, Sama, Dawn and other TV channels last night when the marchers of Pakistan Awami Tehrik and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf were advancing to the Prime Minister House to stage a protest.

The police had beaten the reporters and cameramen and snatched cameras from them. The police also smashed their devices when they were on live coverage of the protesters.

The demonstration was led by HUJ(D) President Farhan Affendi, General Secretary Abbas Kassar, Shiraz Bhatti ,Shahid Ali of Photojournalists Association and others. The protest demonstration condemned police action against media men in Islamabad. The protesting journalists raised slogans against Islamabad police and demanded an action against IG Islamabad and other officers who had issued orders for action against media men.
